Yarrow Lodge is located within Yarner Wood National Nature Reserve in Dartmoor National Park approximately 1.5 miles from Bovey Tracey. This comfortable, family-run Bed and Breakfast is the perfect getaway for walkers, wildlife enthusiasts or those seeking for a tranquil place to rest.

We offer two bed and breakfast rooms, one double and one single, which share a private bathroom. A family can be accomodated. The guest room has continuous provision of tea and coffee and this is the area where breakfast is served in the morning.

Access statement


We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our two-bedroom bed and breakfast house. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to call us and we will try to help.

General information

Beside English, Hanneke (Johanna) speaks fluent Dutch and her French and German is improving.

There is mobile phone reception for O2, some other networks are patchy. If needed, on request, our landline can be used. We are a no smoking building (smoking is allowed outside). We can accept small items of food/medication for storage in our fridge. We are able to provide some assistance if there is a preference to have meals at our establishment. There is a restaurant within one mile radius from our house and also an organic farmshop/restaurant. Bovey Tracey itself has several eating establishments/ take aways and some small supermarkets are open seven days a week. Unfortunately we do not accept pets. You are able to contact us via phone or e-mail. This information can be found at the end of this acces statement.

Pre arrival

The nearest train station is at Newton Abbot. There is regular transport to Bovey Tracey during daytime. There is a Bus service from Exeter, Plymouth and Newton Abbot. If required please ask us for the telephonenumber of the taxi service. We are prepared to assist with transport for short distances ( by prior arrangement) if so required. For stay of 5 days or longer we provide transport from and to Exeter airport.

Arrival and Parking Facilities.

We live in Yarner Wood part of a National Nature Reserve, approx. 1.5 miles from Bovey Tracey in the direction of Manaton. Our house has glorious surroundings and is southfacing. Our tarred drive is level and cars can drive directly to the door. Although there are no marked parking spaces, we have ample room close to the house for cars. We can assist guests with their luggage. We are keen walkers and cyclists, so storage of bicycles or walking boots is not a problem.

Outdoor facilities

The beautiful views can be enjoyed from the flat area in front of the south facing house. The garden can be reached by going down seven steps, which are 20 cm high and 136 cm wide. This reaches a flat grassy area. Garden furniture is available. The rest of the garden slopes down towards a stream.

Public areas

Those are carpeted except for the bathroom and toilet area. Main entrance is the front door, which has one step 8 cm high. The doorway is approx. 75 cm wide. The entrance hall is 133 cm by 133 cm, where the door to the right directly turns into the guest room, where continuous coffee and tea is provided.

Guest room

Breakfast is served here in the morning. There are no steps. Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request. A toilet can be reached by going up one step 18 cm high and another elevation of 8 cm , where the width of the doors are 70 cm. The bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs, although on request a bed settee in the guestroom could be used. We do not play background music in any area of the bed and breakfast.

The staircase going upstairs has initially 10 steps 18 cm high and 80 cm wide to a small level area where to the left two further steps are directed to the landing.There is one banister on the staircase on the left hand side. A wall is on the right side. The two bedrooms and the bathroom are at the end of the landing. The bathroom is in close proximity to the bedrooms, e.g. 1 meter from the double bedroom door and another meter from the single bedroom door.

Bedroom 1. Single bed

Door width 74 cm. The bed is positioned against the wall where the space around the bed is approx 123 cm. The wardrobe creates a small area where the distance to the bed is 75 cm. The bed is 55 cm high, 90 cm wide and 195 cm long.

Bedroom 2. Double bed standard size.

Door width 75 cm. The bed is central to the room with approx 75 cm on each side of the bed and 105 cm on the foot end. The height of the bed is approx. 52 cm. Both rooms have seating, a bedside cupboard, a wardrobe and a mirror.


Door width 65 cm. The electric shower is over the bath. Taps of bath and sink are very easy to open and close. Safety handles on each side of the bath and on the wall close to the shower enclosure. The height of the bath is 53 cm. The height of the toilet is 43 cm. The flooring is linoleum.

A screen in the landing can make the whole area private if wished for.
